Physical Vitality
The only house you will never get to leave.
Tired, and telling yourself you will deal with your health later? You are not alone. I am Chris Ellison (BSW, MSW, MBA), and in nearly thirty years as a therapist I have heard that sentence more times than I can count.
What it means: your body is the one home you cannot move out of. Small deferrals, like the skipped checkup, the lost sleep and the walk that never happens, add up quietly. In the book I call this the Biological Debt, and it often arrives around forty-five. The encouraging part is that steady, modest care started now makes a real difference.
How it shows up in your life: tiredness that coffee no longer fixes, foggy thinking, short patience, and a body that feels like an obstacle instead of a partner.
Try this today: the Doctor’s Appointment Rule. You would not skip a booked appointment, so book your health the same way. Pick one overdue checkup, or put a twenty-minute walk in your calendar for Tuesday and Thursday, and keep it. The appointment does the deciding so your mood does not have to.
